A powerful contribution." —President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins“How glorious it is to hear the voice of John O’Donohue again, the lark-tongued poet, philosopher, theologian and anam cara, who left his imprint on everyone he met. Anyone who spent time with him—in person or in books—came away changed. In this spirited conversation, John is fiercely alive with the electric fizz of being, fully attuned to life, ruminative, and so infused with wonder that every question becomes a lantern. As ever, he delves deeply into the plateaus of being human, and explores the thresholds that arise, frighten, butmust be crossed to become the self one dreams. I so cherish this unexpected gift.” —Diane Ackerman, author of The Zookeeper’s Wife"As this magnificent book demonstrates, even on the printed page John O’Donohue’s voice—so lyrical and eloquent, so profound and impassioned—flashes vividly to life, beautifully capturing a radiant soul filled with humor, compassion and utter selflessness. Kind and necessary words for our bewildering times. Keep in mind this work is a compilation of audio interviews with O’Donohue so it doesn’t go deeply on some topics and some of his phrasing is repetitive because O’Donohue is speaking off the cuff albeit thoughtfully. Anyone who wants more can pick up the lovely books O’Donohue wrote before he died. But this book is a refreshing quick read when one needs a reminder of light and what’s important.

I'm a huge fan of the late Irish poet/writer John O'Donohue so I was very interested to read this. I have several of the books he has written, including Anam Cara, which I have returned to regularly for consolation and inspiration. This book is based on a series of radio conversations O'Donohue had with John Quinn shortly before his death. The topics include those he's touched on in other works but it is not repetitive and worth reading even by those of us who are very familiar with his other books. His Celtic background and mythology permeate his writing and adds a dimension to his work that I greatly enjoy.I find it very difficult to describe his and other writings that have a spiritual bent, as it were. You either appreciate these types of insights and ruminations, or you don't.I received an advance copy without numbers for the table of contents, which made it a bit challenging at time to navigate quickly to topics that interested me.A chapter of particular interest (and relevance!) to me was Aging. O'Donohue does not pretend that it is not without challenges but he speaks of its "...great liberation and freedom."The chapter entitled "Absence" was just fascinating to me.If you know someone who you think might appreciate his writings, this would make a lovely gift. And if you're already a fan, it's a gift to give yourself.

I was predisposed to love this book after discovering John on Krista Tippet's On Being. It did not disappoint. In fact it was even more richer and illuminating than I was expecting.

This is a warm cozy fire with a treasured friend. Savoring every chapter. More please. Publish more. Thank you so much for utilizing Kindle!!

Very good meditation book

Love John O’Donohue. A precious gift to read him again. His words and voice echoing in my mind. He left this world too soon!

Favorite

A wonderful read, I also indulged in the Audible version which, read by John’s brother, Pat, was almost like listening to Himself. One last gift from this sparkling soul.
