As the description hypes this up, it is packing the biggest bads in Pathfinder, with dozens of creatures well over 20 CR. Aside from the Archdevils and the Four Horsemen, there are also empyreal lords, and Charnel Gods which are angry remnants of dead gods. These entries offer as much lore as they do new stats, so you can add to your world even if these aren't planned for your roster. Of course, there are plenty of "normal" monsters too.But what I'll probably use this book the most for is something they really should have explored more, instead of just giving some examples: Troops. Troops are basically swarms of larger, intelligent creatures. Your players might scoff at the consequences of raising the alarm in a goblin camp, but when a few dozen of them can move as a group and surround them? "Just killing them all" isn't a great plan B anymore, because the GM can actually sic all 100 of them on the PCs. Same for the local cult, undead army, and drunken mob.If Troops sound useful or you actually want to pit your players against Archdevils and the like, it's another solid addition to your library. Don't be in a rush to buy this if you or your players are still getting started though.Oh, and the "Green Man" in the description is sadly just a mythical figure in druidic lore, and not an Always Sunny reference. Boring...

I was very excited for this book. Reading through it though it feels less like a bestiary and more of a splat book. It is awesome to have extremely powerful foes just to chuckle at the absurdity but in actual practice, I think few GM's will find them useful. Each of the archdevils have 2 page stat blocks with a lot of fluff thrown in. I enjoyed reading about the horsemen but ultimately they were just rehashed from the Horsemen of the Apocalypse book. Regardless, the book offers a ton of new non Demi God monsters and my new personal favorite of (entropic) wereinsects. You can have weremantis, werespider and werewasps. The art is really good but one monster looks like garbage. I'm drawing a blank at the moment what it is. The artist drew the picture to small and you can see the pixel edges from how much the picture was enlarged. Comical but sad it made it through to print. If you like fluff, this book is for you. If you like crazy cr 20+ monsters, this book is absolutely for you. If your intrigued about the laughable creatures that are entropic.. buy this book.

In addition to the "late game" challenges I'm sure you already know about like the Demon Princes and the Four Horsemen, this book also has a lot of cool monsters for CR 10 to 15 inspired by mythology and folklore. I was happy to see stories like Rawhead, Bloody Bones and La Llorona turned into monsters for Pathfinder. There's a few character options in the book, but not very many. Overall a great resource and one of the better Bestiary books in the line.

I rather like this book. Mainly for the new races, cool constructs, troops, and entothropes (insect lycanthropes). The downside is some of these monsters seem like they were either rushed or plain forgotten. One such example is a construct that gets a racial bonus while in "sentinel mode" meanwhile the only thing listed was it's standby mode with no luck of finding the ability in the universal monster rules in the back of the book. Aside from that a great book for high level play with a little for lower level play as well.

I had high hopes and expectations for the latest Pathfinder bestiary, and it did not disappoint! There is lots of great material there that will definitely see use in my own Pathfinder campaigns!

Lots of fun and terrible beasties to pit against your players, all with beautiful or disgusting artwork, as appropriate. This book is everything I expect from Paizo, including the cheap binding. But, oh well. I have duct tape. :)

Came in good shape.

Includes many creatures of previous categories (ex: clockworks, demons) and includes new godlike beings for those who want an expanded pantheon. only thing lacking in my opinion is that many of the entries have very little description, this does leave room for creativity but it is always nice to see how they were thought to fit into the world.

It took me a few pages to get into the book, but once I did, I kept reading and couldn't stop. The writing is really good and often laugh out loud funny. The plot is fast paced and interesting. The story, though I don't believe in evolution, was imaginative and believable. I cared about the characters and liked their banter. The romance was clean but exciting. I really enjoyed seeing the relationship develop. I started reading around 10 p.m. and read until I finished at 2:30 a.m. I recommend to anyone who likes teenage romance and paranormal stories and is looking for something clean. It reminded me a little of The Green Ember, another book I really enjoyed. I plan to continue reading the series. The next book comes out sometime this year.

I read this in just a couple of sittings. Dinner and a movie then back to this book. Aside from the premise being farfetched, I had trouble with a couple of things. No sense of passing time. Aside from a mention or two about months having passed I thought that the whole story took place in a few days. The main issue for me was that there was very little interaction between Devon and Ann. OK they were soulmates, but did they ever hang out together, read the paper, watch TV? We are told they play poker, but we aren't invited to the game. Does Ann read Devon's mind? Do they all laugh about her "cheating"? I felt left out. This is a quick and easy free read. Would I pay to read it? No.

The Reader by MK Harkins was such a good book! This one took me by surprise! I first off loved the cover it is very eye catching and just beautiful. This book is defiantly a 5 STAR!! MK Harkins did an excellent job of character development and plot. I felt pulled into the story! The twists and turns were just perfect just when you think you know what is going on … bang it goes the other way! That is wonderful when reading! This wonderful book is about just what the title says except … people are extra ordinary and they have this amazing talent to read other people’s mind. Ann Baker is not only a Reader but she is a very special woman with very important gifts. But she has a problem … she can’t remember anything and she thinks she is hearing voices. She is awakened on a beach into a hunt, where she is the hunted. She soon finds out that she is part of something that is old and ancient. Along her journey she meets and is taken with Devon and Archer who are also Readers. These two men are beautiful beyond belief and they both want Ann. Ann will have to pick or rather feel her way through new emotions. In the middle of all this there is someone keeping a pretty big secrets that will change everything. All Ann has to do is find out whom she can trust and if she is actually hearing a voice in her head. 5 Stars for sure!!!!!

I’ve been wary about the free books by unfamiliar authors lately because so many have had cliffhangers with three books poorly stretched out to be three. However, the synopsis of this book appealed to me and none of the reviews indicated that it had a cliffhanger, so I took a chance.Happily, this book was very well written, had good characterization, great plot and good world building. Best of all, there was NO cliffhanger. I think that the book is geared towards young adults but it held my interest and I’m a senior citizen. The book had no risqué or sex scenes and no swearing, so it was definitely a clean read, which reinforced my belief that the target audience is the young adult demographic.Since this is the first book in a series, I imagine that more will be revealed about the Readers in subsequent books. There were some minor plot holes or areas that could have been more developed, but overall, it was a good read. It was light, entertaining and most of the characters were engaging. I will definitely be interested in purchasing more books in the series.I highly recommend this book for readers looking for a light, young adult paranormal series. Kudos to the author for not inflicting a cliffhanger on her readers. For that alone, she deserves to have readers give her books a chance.

Ms. Harkins doesn't write paranormal in the traditional sense, at all! Her characters are just as we are, flawed.. they are 'real', not implausible. She wrote about people and their adversary's, that have special abilities, which I could imagine us, or even people around us, having. This story is enchanting. I became so caught up in it, that my evening flew by, on into the night. This is one of those books, that you will not put down until the ending. I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good suspense read, without all of the intensity. Also, don't let that this book has been placed in the paranormal category.. Ms. Harkins will convince you that what she writes is like no other in any genre that she is placed in.

I came across this book while searching for something new to read and downloaded a sample to see if it would even interest me. Boy am I glad I did. After reading only a few pages, I quickly bought the book and devoured it.The book opens with the main character, Ann, waking up on a beach wounded and with no memory. She is quickly rescued by cousins, Archer and Devon. They whisk her to their compound where she learns exactly who and what she is and what her destiny is.I won't say anymore about the plot because I don't want to give away any spoilers, but I highly recommend this book. It is listed as a YA book and the 3 main characters are all late teens/early twenties but there are other characters that are adults. I give this book 4 1/2 stars and eagerly await the next book in the series.Annette EvansAuthor of They Call Me Jane Doe, Family Secrets and Lies, and Simple Pleasures

I really enjoyed this book and MK Harkins is one of my favorite authors but I'm not really into sci-fi or paranormal. This book drew me in with the Readers and parallel worlds. It was well done and I am still thinking about it a month after reading it. I did have to go back and re-read the beginning to gain more understanding of what happens later in the book but it was intriguing and well written. I did feel that the end was a bit abrupt and could have been a chapter or two longer. Overall a great read, highly recommended.
