When I first started reading this book I was disappointed. In many ways I still am. I was expecting a bwwm novel but that was not what I got. The description of Sierra is not that of a bw. However, I am not surprised. That seems to be the theme of most of these books. Advertised as bwwm but the description of the bw is anything but. Big let down. This was my first time (I think) reading this author. And once I finished the book, I was left thinking this might be one of the last times I read this authors work. I was not expecting a cliffhanger. Another big let down. I dnt like them and had I realized this was a cliffhanger, I would not have gotten this book. This book, is actually rated 2.5 stars by me. Why? Bc I didn't like being deceived by the book advertisement and description. This is not a bwwm book (in my opinion)and the fact that it is a cliffhanger is like a double wammy in a bad way. The book was interesting and did hold my attention. Once I got over the fact the bw is not really black. I'm a fan of bwwm books and I am always let down and disappointed when the authors call the "black" woman black. After describing a woman of another ethnicity and then giving the "black woman" ' a light honey complexion' and labeling it a bwwm romance. Disappointing. Hoeever, that seems to be happening way too often in this genre. As a fan , I'm highly disappointed. When I read a bwwm novel, I expect the description of the bw to be a bw, regardless of complezion. I expect the author to use his or her literary imagination and create a beautiful bw not a women of another ethnicity painted "light honey". Come on! Anywho, I truly think I'm going to stop reading this genre altoghther. More times than not, I dnt get what I pay for. And I usually want my money back. With that being said, overall, not a bad read. However, once I read the 2nd book, I won't be reading anything else by this author nor will I continue to follow this author. I feel like the author deceived me and advertised this as a bwwm book. When in all actualuality it's not. Like I said, overall not a bad read and were it not for the false advertisement I would have rated this book a 3.5, even with it being a cliffhangar. SO Please don't let my bias spoil this for you. If you want to check this book out, please do. Dnt let my issues keep you from reading a decent book.
This book was honestly EVERYTHING!!! In the beginning, I started reading it and was like Wow, there are a lot of POV's. Then I was hooked completely because of the POV's. It helped us readers see all aspects of what is going on. That was so well thought out and played out awesomely.You have an independent woman whose dreams aren't her families. She marries her College Sweetheart. Mr. Football. He is devoted to her fully until he wins the Super Bowl and woman start falling into his lap. Coincidentally Sierra and Mr. Football go to the same school as the other main characters and they are all tied together in one way or another, which as they kept coming out and revealing the relation, it was amazing!Then you have my man, Dillion. He witnessed his Uncle being taken out and then he shoots one of the guys and takes off. His mom hides him so that they can prevent war, well. It did a shitty job at that, because you are left with a friggin Cliffhanger. I can't go into full detail without spoiling it for you. Let me just say this book has me feeling all kinds of emotions!!!!!
Ohh, the cover on this one! Even if I wasn’t already a fan of the author the cover and blurb would have made me One-Click anyway! This is a good story - pulls you in with drama at the beginning and then there is the intriguing progression of a new relationship. There are a few POVs that may cause you to reread a bit but hang in there - it’s worth it. All the pieces come together as this story of secrets and passion builds to a crescendo. What I loved about this book are the loyal Alpha males who do what’s best to protect and care for the people they love, the smart dialogue, and that Jeff/Dillon & Sierra are grown folks with grown folks challenges (exes, trust issues, children, business owners) that they juggle while growing closer to each other. I love the way their relationship unfolds - Sierra approaches him first and Jeff/Dillon wants to take it slow physically (nice to see in a male lead, he plans great dates). There are some typos. I will be impatiently waiting for more of this story and hope that Tony and Nadine get their own book as well!
This is another great series from Posey. I've just added Dillon/Jeff to my book boyfriends list, which I'm sure his brother Dominic will be added in as well LOL. This book takes us on the journey of Jeff and Sierra, two individuals that were cheated on by their spouses and now they have to learn how to overcome their insecurities to see if they can be great together. They have a lot of baggage going into a relationship but Jeff won't let Sydney give up on them. They also have the added stresses of dealing with their exes and trying to figure out how to bring their kids together. Just when you think all that is enough Jeff's past comes calling in the most interesting of ways. You simply have to read on to find out all the juicy details, trust me it's good. Highly recommend this book!!!
In the beginning, I was a little confused on the point of views from each character but as I started reading more and more of the book, I was hooked. Dillon AKA Jeff and Sierra each have trust issues due to their exes but when they're together they show their true colors and really trust each other. Dillon is a strong alpha male and will do anything to protect and provide for his family even after witnessing his Uncle's murder when he was a teenager. Sierra's strong and independent but she's also afraid to be alone and with Dillon she knows exactly what she wants in and outside the bedroom. Even though Dillon lied to Sierra it wasn't intentionally but to protect her and her kids. Patiently waiting for part 2.
I would have given 4 1/2 stars but I don't know how. I have not enjoyed mafia book since reading Brenda Jackson mafia series. This has all things I enjoy reading about. Bwwm lead characters, steamy love, intelligent and honest lead female, danger and suspense. The only reason it was not a 5 star rating is because it has another part and I don't know how long it will be, before the next book comes out. I hope it's not too long.
