The first chapter reads like a combination of personal confession and mystery novel as Amber tells us about her twenty years of suffering through a terrifying range of nearly continuous symptoms ranging from erratic heart rate, night sweats, vomiting, diarrhea, anaphylaxis, perilous drops in blood pressure, intense abdominal cramps, muscle fatigue, headaches and brain fog, as she strove to be normal [as a type A person!], running marathons, swimming competitively, earning a doctorate in physical therapy (PT), serving as a consultant to the government of Peru on PT issues, and practicing PT in Peru, Utah, her native Alaska, and Colorado. That makes up just part of her confession. Her mystery is, of course, to put her medical history up against the question: What causes my illness? Ms. Walker gives us an intimate description of her interactions with physicians, many, dismissing her symptoms as imaginary, and others treating them with only temporary success, or even making them worse.As her story progress, Amber discovers, with the help of main line medical professionals and holistic practitioners, that she suffers from mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), a condition in which certain white blood cells (masts), whose function is to protect the body from parasites, microbes and viruses, are triggered to release response chemicals, but in MCAS, over produce, or produce erratically. I bought it for my 8 year old granddaughter who is involved in roller derby. It's a great example that you don't have to be prissy to be comfortable in today's society. That there are people out there that celebrate your strengths and that you can still be feminine while being strong and mighty. I got one for myself. A reminder that I am enough after a divorce.

Update 7/30/12I have received my new copy with the improved paper, and have uploaded a photo of the same page as my previous book with the lesser quality paper. You can see that there is a significant improvement in the opacity of the paper and a reduction in the amount of bleed through from the following pages.Is it as good as my 24th edition? It's close, but no.Is it good enough for daily use? Probably.The text has gone from unreadable in the first printing to tolerable in the second. I've spent quite a bit of time today looking at various pages, and while distracting, the text from following pages doesn't completely overwhelm what you are trying to read. We shall see over time, but for the moment the larger text wins out over the tiny text in my 24th edition. The large print book will be kept with me at work and my old book will go in my toolbox at home.Use your own judgement before buying this book. Take a look at the photos I have uploaded and see for yourself if the bleed through is more distracting than you can accept.I've changed the number of stars in the review from one to three. The book should still be more readable considering its use.==============================Original review:Twenty years ago, I bought the 24th edition after graduating from college. It has served me well over the years but I wanted to give myself a treat this year and buy the updated version. I went with the large print since it was going to be my last one, and I wanted to make it easier on my eyes to read it later in life.I had read that the pages were thinner in the last few editions making it more difficult to read, but I decided to buy it anyway. How bad could it be? Well, I found out how bad. With luck, Amazon will publish my photo on the product page and you can see for yourself how thin the pages are. You can see the back of the page clearly, the front and back of the next page, and sometimes even the next page! This book is vastly more difficult to read than the 24th edition I have, and despite having some additional information I would like to have at my fingertips and the larger type, I just can't keep this book.What good is a reference book if you can't read it? What good is having super thin and super delicate pages on a book that you will use the most?Please, do yourself a favor and find a good used book. The information hasn't changed much, and your eyes will thank you.

Content is always going to be 5 starts, no doubt about that.It is the same darn thin pages that made me give this a 2 star.One would think after the fiasco with thin pages in the previous version, Industrial Prints would have figured not to use the same thin paper in their latest 30th edition of the book... This isn't the case. I've attached a picture of the same page used in a review in the 29th edition of this book titled "Please see photos before buying this book" by G. James on February 22, 2012It is evident that the pages of this 30th edition is as bad as the old version of the 29th edition.

The information in this book is a must for the amateur machinist.However, the quality of this book I received makes me think twice. My book was purchased brand new but it looks like it has been sitting for a while.-The binding and glue is coming undone without ever having opened it (Pictured)-Some of the pages aren't stamped with a radius correctly at the corners and some pages are stuck together. (Pictured)-5% of the pages are creased (Pictured)-Most of the pages have ripples from what looks like it being compressed for too long (Pictured)I would be fine with everything if the binding wasn't coming undone. This book will not last in a shop and the pages WILL come apart. I will be getting a replacement and hopefully its better.I will update.UPDATE 8/11/17Received 2nd book (Last Picture). No creasing, no mis-stamping. Same issue with binding coming undone. Really disappointing. Really wish I would have got the digital one.

I swear by this book. Granted I haven't had many editions in my possession but everything I have to look up on the Internet for my job as a mechanical/process engineer is 98% in this book. It takes almost all textbooks I've had for my degree specific classes and compacts the information into 2800 chock filled pages. It will soon be filled with stickies and post its for critical info areas. Equations, stress, strain, deflection, material selection, grades, fasteners, gearing, cross section analysis, conversion tables, machining processes, it's all here. It has earned a permanent spot on my desk at work. I use it every chance I get.Shell out the extra bucks for this thicker page version as I've heard bad things about how bad the page bleed is from the original edition. Every mechanical, design, industrial or process engineer or machinist should have this book on hand!!

Bought this for a good friend who is majoring in physics at a university. At some point, I told him, he'd need this to help him interface with the physical world. (He already has the CRC Handbook of Physics and Chemistry, so that wasn't a possibility) I decided on print rather than electronic or a combination; for people like him and me this is entertaining reading and the print version leads to stumbling into new information whenever you open it. There's really no replacement for this book: If your passion or profession or just interests run into machine tools, processes, materials, etc., you owe yourself a new or used copy.

I found myself cheering her on as she tackles obstacles in these races that I could never imagine doing on my own (why would anyone run through charged electrical wire???), then actually imagining myself doing them too! I broke out in “puddles” (tears) on a subway platform when reading chapter 5 and found myself shaking my head in amusement at how many times one person can throw up during a race. This book is for anyone who is possibly thinking about starting to run, has started running, accomplished runners, and those who used to run. The author does a great job of using a real person’s voice – not those blogs you read in fitness magazines – to describe training and races and comradery with fellow slow runners. Great light read!

I'm not much of a reader, so when I tell you I couldn't put this down, weight it heavily! It was a quick read, and I was honestly disappointed I finished it so quickly. I laughed, I got misty eyed, I smiled, I read parts out loud to anyone who would listen because they were pure gold and I had to share. Then, I felt so inspired that I signed up for a half marathon. Before you discount that and write me of as "one of THOSE runners" (you know, the skinny girls who look graceful like a gazelle when they run), you ought to know that I'm not. I'm just not. I've been told (on several occasions) that I "run surprisingly well for a girl my size" and that I "don't LOOK like a runner." (Umm...thanks?) Anyway...Intermingled in all the wit and humor, is a resounding message of encouragement that gives you that little kick to go for it (or maybe it's the shear competitiveness driven by that little voice saying "if she can do it, I can do it!").Get this book for the laughs. There are plenty. But, beware, you might actually end up all inspired and motivated and stuff by the end.

The author, Dana Ayers, captured my interest quickly with the perspicacious and unassuming manner in which she describes her experiences as a slower runner. Without self-deprecation, Dana paints a vivid picture of the hardships and triumphs of distance running. Every scene is punctuated with a wry sense of the funny side of life and typically rounds out with a silver lining moment and some home truth. Dana is quick to point out that what matters most is not speed or performance, but perseverance, helping others, and one’s attitude to life. I am left with a distinct sense of gratitude for the power and joy of continually challenging oneself and of participating as a member of a team. I cannot help but wonder what bizarre adventure her next marathon or hardcore mud run will take this gutsy author on - up Kilimanjaro? Through the Aussie Outback? Whatever’s next, Dana’s bound to leave you believing in yourself too.

What a fun, inspiring, read about the joy/pain/fun of recreational running. Dana Ayers writes in such a warm friendly connecting way that wraps you up in her experiences of running various road and obstacle course runs. As a "2nd half" of the pack rec runner myself, many of the things she has seen and situations she has experienced are very relatable. Her style is casual and her manner engaging. It is one of those kind of books that you catch yourself smiling while your reading it.Within her stories you'll find courage and inspiration mixed together with humor. I recommend this book to any person that enjoys a good read, runner or not. I especially recommend this book to anyone who has always wanted to achieve something (run a 5K, find a new job, etc.) but have held back because of . Dana shows us how to push past those reasons, achieve unlikely things, and perhaps have some fun along the way.

I am a newbie runner and currently run about a 5k distance on a regular basis. This book made me laugh and encouraged me to think about running longer distances. I have already recommended it to several runner friends of mine. A few friends did the Ragnar this summer and this book actually helped me to understand what they accomplished.I could appreciate the author's FOMO (fear of missing out).I have always been nervous about doing races. I don't expect to come in first, but the performance anxiety would make me miss out (even though I secretly wanted to do it). The stories in this book and ones I have now read on the internet make me realize that I am not the only one fearing puking, passing out, or worse, at the end of a race. I am happy to say, I ran my second ever 5k (first one in 2009) last weekend after being inspired by this book. Also, I did not puke, pass out, or worse. :-)

Its good writing, but the plot thickens and thins back and forth within the series depending on what book you reading. I'm just kind of burned out on Robert and Sarah, but the father is a nice plot filler in this one.Second book in series, but a stand alone which is much appreciated. This can be read in any order of the series. Another good book from Emma Reid, delivered as expected with some hot and steamy so on and so forth. Good afternoon everyone today I am reviewing book four in the billionaire romance series what a girl loves.So far in the series we have Sara and Robert two collage kids falling in love. I hope you read book one and book two and book three. it is definitely must to understand what is going on here in book four. This series is written in two points of views one being Sara and the other being Robert. It switches every other chapter. In book one Sara is at school to prove to her father that she can. She meets Robert in class. Robert is typical rich kid partying all night and doesn't care about school. In book one they are paired together for school project. Sara is not happy to be paired with guy who missed 6 weeks of classes. In book one while working together they get feelings for each other which is admitted at the end. Robert gets call that his dad is very ill then book ends. Now in book 2 we introduce James Robert's friend who has small crush on Sara. In book 2 starts with Sara not seeing Rob for few weeks but she's been spending a lot of time with James. She has no idea that James likes her. Rob invites Sara to go meet his dad who is dying. Robs dad makes him do this. Sara invites James to come along as she is nervous. When Sara meets Rob's dad he tells her firmly that he does not want Sara with his son. Sara is upsets and leaves back to school with James. Back at her dorm James tells Sara that he likes her and ask her out. Rob shows up and apologize to Sara but Sara is confused said she needs time. Book three what a girl knows starts off with Sara trying to decide who to choose. In this part of thier journey sara is unsure of what to do. She finally decides to call james after a week of ignoring both james and rob. This call ends with a date that she is unsure of. Mean while rob goes over to james dorm to talk with him and over hears the phone call. On sara and James date Robert shows up and it goes bad. Sara and Robert realize again they want each other. They end up together again and Robert takes sara to his private island. They just arrived and Robert gets a phone call from his sister. His dad has died but not before telling the girls how he felt for sara. So rob asks sara to join him in going to funeral.Now book four what a girl loves sara is heading with Robert to the funeral where she will meet Roberts 3 sisters. Theres more drama in what a girl loves then romance. Sara meets his sisters for first time day before funeral. So you know that has some issues. This is a good series but they should of made it into one book instead of several short stories.Note: I have received this product for a free or reduced price in exchange for my honest in biased review.

This is the fourth out of six books in this series. This is another short book (why they did not put them all in one is beyond me) and does not take long to read. The writing is getting better with each installment of this series. Again, the writing will draw you in and keep you hooked. There are a few spots that drag, but not enough for me to put it down. This book shows what a strong woman the main character is able to be, where in the past books it was not so obvious. I cannot wait to read the next book.Recommend this to a friend? Took me a little long than I anticipated to write this review but as a single mom of two it took me longer to read this book than I anticipated. Lol! I will say that I am absolutely addicted to this series! I don't want to ruin any of the plot to this book so I will keep my review pretty generic because as an avid reader myself I HATE spoilers, but I will say that this is a very well written series with perfect plot progression, it's a easy read that flows well and the characters are very well established. It's for sure my favorite romantic novel series. Very "50 shades" like which for me is amazing! The writing is done so well that your mind "sees" the story as you read it! I recieved the entire series free on my kindle in exchange for my honest review, which for kindle download it's free anyhow, but just for the sake of complete honesty I wanted to disclose that. Finally a book that a child can follow without an adult around! My 6 year old grandson can follow the easy directions to many Lego buildings, toys, etc. I just gave him the book and showed him what he had to do to build the item and off he went! He loves it! It was a very quiet afternoon with him playing with his Legos and only came out of his room to show me what he had made next. The instructions or photos are so very easy to follow. I even tried it and it was great! I highly recommend this book to young Lego builders and their parents!

Bought this for our 8 year old son. The book has a lot of cute things to build. Love all the animals. Was a little disappointed that a lot of the designs are simple, but they are cute. Also like that they use pieces that are available in a lot of the various kits, and doens't need special pieces to make.

Easy for my little boy who is learning to read to follow and build on his own! Lots of fun projects, will be buying more

I bought this as a gift with the matching Lego set. I hesitated because amongst reviews for the different volumes, I read complaints that people didn't have the pieces the book called for and it was advertised that you could use probably with a set you already own, so they accused the product of false advertising. And I disagree about the false advertising. If you pay attention to the description and the Lego set you buy in your local Walmart, Target, Michael's Crafts or of course Amazon, Take notice of the 5 digit "code" on your Lego set that you already own or want to purchase, then look for it amongst the volumes of these books. It's very super duper likely deluxe you find one of the volumes of these books and one of the standard Lego sets match up.I bought this as a gift, my son (6years old) saw it before we gifted it and he approved. Now he wants a book. The child we gifted it to with the Legos was ear to ear smiles and hugs me every time he sees me in the classroom. Great idea to get their minds working with simple colors and blocks rather than the specific made for one reason set.

Nice, simple easy to follow instructions. Perfect for a 5-7 year old. Easy to put together, similar to LEGO juniors. A 4 year old could do some of the simpler figures. If you have a ton of LEGO’s, it’s probably best to sort out the needed pieces to reduce frustration. Then just leave them to it!

My kids loves this instruction book! He builds all kinds of stuff from it. My only complaint is that the designs are really simple, but I guess that's because of the age range it's good for. There are also only 25 designs in here. Seemed for the sized they could have fit more.

Actual directions, not just ideas. Perfect for my 5 year old just getting into big kid legos and wanting more specific and straightforward directions. The bigger books were over the 5 y/o's head, but fun to look at. This was doable, which is a whole different thing.

Organized in a logical format by theme: Animal Safari, Living Room, Pond in a Park, and Transportation Station. There is a nice table of contents that shows all of the figures for the book (see picture) and an instruction page on "how to use this book" (see picture).The different sections then separate for each figure showing the number of pieces and then step-by-step instructions. Easy for a little one to follow as well as the grown-ups that may be helping. The cover states 5 and up, and I would agree that needs to be at least a 5 year old since the child would need to be able to count the number of legos needed and then match them up using the picture instructions. The books contains the following to build: giraffe, zebra, rhino, tiger. elephant, safari sailboat, battleship, red plan, rocket, navy jet, radio tower, green plane, yacht, cat, mice, yellow house, streetlight, brown tree, mailbox, blue house, white tree, red house, swan, frog, bumblebee, turtle, and duck.Our 5 year old loves to just play with the Legos and make up things to build but he also love looking at the suggestions that come with the lego boxes. This is a nice addition for him and gives him something new to try and put together.The instructions state that these designs can be done using the LEGO® Classic set 10698 or as it states Legos you already have---giving new challenges and adventures without buying anything new. But that specific set is supposed to have all of the pieced necessary to build as instructed.This book would make a nice gift along with that particular set for a 5+ year old if you didn't already have Legos.I received both Book 1 and Book 3. There are a few models in these two books that are similar. For example, in both there are giraffes and rhinos and both have green planes as well as others that are similar (see listings). But, they are not exactly alike, so it is still fun to trying to build the different models.Printed in USA
