This is the map to have if you're driving around Portugal. Be aware, if you're coming from North America, that driving in Portugal is expensive and difficult. Parking and driving in much of Lisbon and Porto are nightmarish by North American standards. Rural roads may be narrow and have no shoulder, factors you'll soon find demanding your attention when an oncoming truck looms. Many people drive 100 mph or faster (160 kp/h or faster) on the motorways (freeways). Freeways in the technical sense, i.e., with no toll charges, are few; most motorways are turnpikes, with high toll charges. Car rentals are expensive and if you want a car with an automatic transmission, you will pay much more as of this writing (April 2016); most people in Europe still use manual transmissions. Get the smallest car you'll be comfortable in, because of the difficulty of maneuvering in a city of any size.Let's put it this way: in three weeks in Portugal, seeing thousands of drivers, I saw maybe two or three on cell phones. I doubt it's because people are extremely law-abiding (the drivers here in California certainly flout the cell phone laws all the time). It's probably because driving requires enormous focus and attention. Anyone on a cell phone risks an accident in short order. You won't be tempted to talk while driving anywhere in the country.

We used it during our Portugal road trip Sept 2018. Didn't think we need it as our rental car has a GPS, plus we have one on our phone. It was supposed to be extra insurance- a backup. But boy, we were lucky that we had it. It showed us the scenic side roads and prevented us from getting hopelessly lost. We were surprised at the abundance number of small towns in Portugal, many of which shared identical names! If you type one such name into the GPS, you will get a list of similarly named towns in different regions. You won't be able tell which is the one you want because chances are, you will not recognize the district/region name ( there are too many). When this happened to us, we were able to refer to the Michelin map to find another town along the route and use that to navigate to. The map was also helpful when the GPS gave convoluted routes, confusing/conflicting instructions (e.g, take the roundabout when there was none). Thankfully, the roads on the map are labeled with the route numbers. Regarding the size of the map, yes, it is huge, we did struggle with it a bit. Anything smaller would lose important details or one would not be able to make out the writing. A map in a book format has significant downside too. My suggestion is to fold it into a larger but still manageable size showing the part of the country you want BEFORE getting into the car. I remember being inside a gas station in the middle of nowhere in Portugal (had to use the washroom), a French couple was talking to the attendant. I saw the attendant spread out a bunch of orange colored Michelin maps on the counter in front of them. They looked unsure. I felt like talking to them...

My wife and I planned our trip to Portugal using this map and it was hugely helpful to figuring out where all the destinations we read about online were and which ones were close to each other and which were way to far away.Realistically this map would be a little bit of a pain to use for navigating while in the car due to the size and paper material but in the day and age of GPS that is way less important. We found it super helpful for mapping out our trip and will buy more in the future for other countries.

Since we were traipsing all over Portugal and into Spain a bit,this was a great map. Although it is really large ( which it needs to be in order to see the small rural roads we traveled on) the way it folds allows you to open only the part of the map area you are using. It was very accurate and I also used one of the Michelin maps for Italy years ago and found it indispensable for the back roads we traveled on. If you are driving in Lisbon or a larger town a local map from a hotel or google maps is more helpful. Although I had access at times to navigation maps thru my IPad, mapquest etc. those maps were not always completely accurate. This map was and I would not hesitate to buy another when we are driving in other countries.

The map was great. Enabled us to drive all over Portugal with no problems. Other customers indicated it was a little large, but you just fold it as you would any map. The size made everything very easy to read.

The decision to print the entire map on a single side of the paper (rather than printing double-sided) makes this map unwieldy in the extreme. It's not easy to manage, not in a car, not really on a dash or hood, it requires a large, clear dining room table. The paper is fragile and tears easily. I'm not sure what niche this map is hoping to fill; it's not particularly easy to use or read and it would be a disaster in a moving car.

GPS on our rental car and our phones has made the paper map largely irrelevant. But since we are planning a two week road trip to Portugal including many small towns and out of the way location, I am happy to have a Michelin Portugal Map in case we find bad cell phone service or have some other issue with out GPS.

I just got back from a trip all over Portugal using this map. Great details and very accurate. I read some reviews about the map being too big to use in the car. It is very easy to fold it over to just the area you are using at the moment. I saw this same map for sale in one of the rest stops in Portugal, but I got mine on Amazon! I highly recommend this map. Friend's had a similar Michelin map of just the south. That would be great too if you are just going to be in the Algarve as it showed even more detail in that area.

I have had the second edition of this book for many years and it has been invaluable to me in the care of my son. I purchase and donate a copy to every teacher he has. Not only is it initially a fantastic resource but as your child ages and changes the variety of information offers something new every time you go back to it. This is my bipolar bible - I highly highly recommend it!!!

If you need advice with mood disorders and children this is the book for you! There is a wealth of information and you will want to order a highlighter or post it notes to mark all this things it will teach you. I've read a lot of books and this has the best advise. This was really great to have through all the IEP meetings your child will need. Good luck on this adventure, you'll need it :)

This is the best book out there to describe what bipolar/DMDD looks like in prepubescent children. Children do have mixed states with rapid cycling in many cases, as with my child. My child has a very high IQ and has bouts of major depression that last no more than 2 hours followed by hypo manic states. This is a must read for any parent of a bipolar child. It explains how many cases are different but they are all bipolar.

I read this book with some scepticism at first, because I am an old hand at reading "theories" about children and "neurological disorders" at this point. I checked first with my own doctor to see if in fact this condition really does exist: he affirmed that it does. Apparently, I, like so many other people, am out of date in my knowledge of the existence of early onset bipolar disorder.As it is critical to your child's well being and future health to get a proper diagnosis of such a serious condition, this book can be very helpful. It contains a list of resources at the end that are worth their weight in gold alone. Furthermore, there are apparently, according to the authors, quite a few misdiagnosed children out there who are being treated with the wrong medications and the sooner they get helped on their way to the correct ones the more stable their health will remain. This is imperative as this disorder must be treated with medication.This book also addresses the state of the family as a unit; this is vitally important as, when raising any child, you must consider the whole family and the feelings of any one member at any given time. The stress from having a bipolar child is extreme. Suggestions are given that are helpful to ameliorate this.Always, always, a respect for and an affection for children comes through in this book. As the authors guide you through the confusing maze of terms like "IEP'S", "IDEA", "hypomania",and others, you can be certain that it is being put as clearly as possible. If you aren't ready for some of it at one point, it is waiting for you there when you are.There is hope for children with this disorder and there is an incredible network of parents out there online who have been where you are, according to the Papoloes. This is not a "win/lose situation". It is a growing process, for your child and for you, I learned. There is great comfort to be found in this book as it unfolds, and a lot of good hard information. A good job on a complex subject.

Lots of information on everything from medication to schooling to hospitalization and home life. If you are a parent with a bipolar child and are in a rough patch this book may give you some ideas or new insight, which is always good:)

This is by far the best book available dealing with childhood bipolar. I struggled with Bipolar from an early age, when resources such as this were not available. It is wonderful to see that there are so many resources available now to parents struggling with this sad disorder. It was great to read as an adult because it helped reaffirm that I am not alone in the rages, crying, and other difficult symptoms that I dealt with as a child.Note: I originally purchased this book in 2008, which is when I wrote the above review. It is now 2014, and I still stand by my words. I have loaned this book out to SEVERAL other parents who suspect that their child may be bipolar. They too, have found it very helpful and informative. This book is in no way perfect, and certainly doesn't have all of the answers, but no book, doctor, parent, or anyone else does either. It is still, by far, the best book I have ever read on the subject of Bipolar Disorder in Children.

I didn't want it to end and when it did I immediately sobbed. Am on a quest to read everything she's ever written.

2 weeks ago I purchased this from an Amazon seller. Dr Angelou means a great deal to me, and when I saw an offer to get a book autographed by her for $35.00, I thought it absolutely was too good to be true!! It was. Signature is a pre-printed facsimile. I am undecided about returning this deceitful and terrible disappointment or keeping it, as a hardcover copy these days likely would cost ~$35.00 anyway.

Love this book, honestly I don’t know why I never hear anything about her until I saw a documentary about her life, and I decided I need to read her book never regret, I believe anyone had to read this book

She led such an exciting life during a time of change. She traveled and made the most of all her talents. Very easy to read.

I am attempting to read all of her books. She takes you back to a time of honor and integrity when you handled your adversaries without compromising who you were. The Baroness Orczy can tell a love story without it being a sex story or a romance novel. There can be a crime and a mystery without extreme violence in her works.

After reading this book for the third time, I still find it a wonderful book that provides intimate details of an exciting time in Maya' s life. She generously shares her struggles and triumphs in such rich and down to earth discourses of her adventurous life. I thoroughly enjoyed being reminded about many historically significant events and Maya' s role in them, which she shares with a uniquely stylish flair.

This is an amazing book, its taught me that I should do something to change things, if I can and to except and embrace the things that I can't change.I would recommend this book.
